First steps
Overview
Members and employees of the University of Wuppertal (including students, of course) can register using their ZIM login.
It is strongly recommended to use key backup to avoid losing messages! For more information, see the Security section under “First Steps”.
We recommend using the Element web application because it is simpler than using the desktop client.
If you experience some anomalies, you can try clearing the cache and reloading everything: Settings > Help & About > Clear cache and reload.
Login with BUW account via the web application
Start on element.uni-wuppertal.de
► Click on Sign in here.
► Here, click on Continue with ZIM Account.
► Enter ZIM account details here.
There is no email/confirmation email after the first login.

After a desktop installation, make sure to use the existing account with the BUW login and not create a new account on another server. This is done after clicking on “Login” by clicking on “Change” at the top and then entering the home server address (matrixsrv.uni-wuppertal.de).
